“a brilliant constitutional lawyer with unquestioned integrity”

Time to start “asking the questions”:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4699927.stm, Mr. Hatch. Of course, with his being a partisan right-winger, don’t expect hard questioning to come from him.

“Bitch Ph.D.”:http://bitchphd.blogspot.com and “Daily Kos”:http://www.dailykos.com have much more than I can ever hope to dig up on Roberts[1], and from what I see, I hope this guy gets a good “borking”:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Bork#.22Bork.22_as_a_verb (latter definition).

Brian wonders if this nomination, which I’d call controversial, is designed to take the “heat off of Rove”:http://phillybri.blogspot.com/2005/07/judge-john-roberts-you-figure-it-out.html. Good question, Brian. A judicial filibuster showdown in the Senate is just what the doctor ordered for a failing presidency that’s becoming more unraveled by the day. Expect Frist and others to go onto television shows such as _The 700 Club_ to drum up support for the “nuclear option” again painting Roberts as a man of integrity who’ll fight the Forces of Abortion and Other Darkness who’ll pander to the “Jesus Hates Fags” crowd.

Yeah, Bush is a uniter, all right. If he has his way, he’ll unite the same way the Romulans wanted to “reunite with the Vulcans”:http://startrek.epguides.info/?ID=282.

I don’t like this at all.

fn1. For those who have their head under a rock. 1. I envy you. 2. John Roberts, Jr. is Bush’s nominee to replace O’Connor on the Supreme Court.
