Even if you take a pill

While they didn’t specifically study the effect of spirituality, mindfulness, and other ideas on health, one study did “show the impact of stress management training” on the prognosis of heart patients. The study was four months long and included three arms: one receiving standard of care (SOC(Standard of Care)), one receiving SOC(Standard of Care) with exercise, and one receiving SOC(Standard of Care) with stress management training. On most scores, the stress management did as well as the exercise group, and even exceeded the exercise group. Both groups exceeded the SOC(Standard of Care) only group.

This study hints that a marriage of western and eastern (in this context called _complementary_) medicine would be highly effective in the management of serious problems. I’d love to see this area explored more thoroughly.
